Honor a Memory
Today’s theme is, Honor a Memory. This particular Spill the Tea Wednesday just happens to be the 20th Anniversary of my mother’s passing from lung cancer. I know many friends who have lost loved ones and loss is never easy regardless of the cause. The pain has faded, but I still miss my mother even twenty years later. She was someone I admired as a strong, confident, self-made woman. My mother owned a candle making business and she created so many different styles of beautiful candles up until her passing. I kept many of her candles and remember her every time I pass her creations that are displayed throughout our house. Each one triggers a happy memory of an event or an idea that she wanted to convey through her work. After my mother died, I was inspired to write a poem in her memory and displayed it in a beautiful frame surrounded by roses from her funeral. Writing the poem helped me heal and gave me some closure during that difficult time.To remember someone you miss, try writing a poem, displaying a picture, or that special something that reminds you of the happier times you shared with them. It will give you comfort and honor their memory.
